As we reflect on a year of remarkable progress and growth, we’re thrilled to highlight some of this quarter’s standout features. These enhancements are designed to benefit SAP customers and application administrators who prioritize business operations and change management audit trails, license management, and in-depth monitoring of complex SAP batch job operations.
This interactive search feature allows you to search using various criteria. For instance, you can:
Search by Incident Number: Find all transports related to a specific incident number that are older than a specified number of days.
Search by Keyword: Find transports containing a specific keyword (such as "role") in their description, regardless of age.
Every SAP NetWeaver ABAP or Java system requires a valid SAP license, which is typically generated through the SAP Service Marketplace or the SAP Support Portal. However, maintaining valid licenses can be challenging due to system or hardware changes.
For example, modifications such as hardware changes, replacing a network card, or reordering multiple network cards can invalidate an existing license by altering the HW key parameters. In an ABAP system, the impact is managed temporarily with a 28-day grace period, during which users receive expiration notifications. In contrast, SAP Java systems shut down after 30 minutes without a valid license, creating a critical issue for administrators.
These challenges are even more frequent in cloud environments, where dynamic provisioning of virtual machines can inadvertently disrupt licensing.
To address these issues, ITC has introduced SAP License Monitoring, a simple yet effective solution to ensure license validity. This tool provides:
Real-time monitoring of license status.
Alerts and notifications for impending expirations with a precise number of days until expiration, configured with thresholds tailored to your needs.
All licenses are monitored but selective ones can be excluded such as Maintenance licenses.
A centralized overview of license compliance across your SAP system landscape.
Avoid system disruptions by proactively managing licenses.
Ensure compliance with SAP agreements.
Optimize licensing costs with insights into usage patterns.
By implementing proactive license monitoring, SAP administrators can maintain stable operations and adhere to contractual obligations seamlessly.
SAP batch job monitoring is one of our core features, continuously improved to meet evolving needs. Our latest enhancements include advanced tracking of job duration and completion times, as well as the capability to generate alerts based on predefined criteria.
Monitoring Job Timing:
In-Flight Time Alerts: Receive notifications if a job runs longer than a specified runtime.
Job Duration Alerts: Get alerts for complete jobs that exceed a set duration, while taking into consideration if the job was successful or aborted.
Specific Job Timing Alerts:
Trigger alerts if specific jobs fail to start by a designated time.
Trigger alerts if jobs are not finished by a specified deadline.
You can now configure alerts for critical job timings. For example:
An alert can be triggered at a specific time if a job has not started, with notifications sent to the designated stakeholders.
Similarly, an alert can notify responsible parties if a job hasn’t been completed by the specified time.
These features are particularly useful for managing multiple instances of batch jobs, both before and after their designated deadlines, ensuring comprehensive oversight and timely notifications. By leveraging these advanced monitoring capabilities, you can proactively identify and address potential issues, ensuring optimal performance and reliability of your systems.
