Welcome to the Q1-2025 edition of IT-Conductor’s latest innovations in Service Orchestration and Automation Platform (SOAP). This quarter, we introduced impactful enhancements designed to improve application availability, streamline SAP job monitoring, and expand reporting capabilities. These updates aim to support SAP customers and administrators in ensuring business continuity, optimizing change management, and enhancing system visibility.

1. Application Failover

IT-Conductor now supports application management failover, ensuring high availability by automatically routing critical IT-Conductor automation workloads to standby applications whenever the primary system becomes unavailable. This minimizes disruptions and improves system reliability during IT-Conductor automation processing.

This feature is especially beneficial for large-scale application environments.

Common Use Case:

  • SMTP Email Failover – If a customer's SMTP server becomes unavailable, the notifications seamlessly failover to the IT-Conductor shared SMTP service, ensuring uninterrupted delivery of critical system alerts. Once the customer's SMTP server is restored, failback occurs automatically.

2. Advanced Job Monitoring

IT-Conductor’s SAP job monitoring capabilities have been significantly enhanced to provide deeper insights and faster resolution of job failures.

  • Job owners now receive detailed notifications when background jobs fail, including relevant metadata such as job logs. This feature fast-passes the notification by targeting the owner of the jobs instead of the typical IT operations team, although they can still be on the alert subscription.

  • The in-built customer’s Tenant overview dashboard offers visibility into failed jobs, categorized by different periods (i.e., Daily, Weekly, Monthly) for trend analysis.

  • Reports can also be defined to ensure that administrators receive timely summaries of job failures, helping them proactively address recurring issues.

With these improvements, IT-Conductor empowers administrators with better visibility, faster troubleshooting, and proactive job failure management.

3. Subscriptions Enhancement

IT-Conductor now supports subscriptions for Activity Log and Report delivery, introducing a new Subscription option that streamlines notifications.

Previously, recipients for activity logs and report deliveries had to be manually specified at the report or activity level. With this enhancement, users can now specify a subscription that applies to relevant activities. This allows for notifications to be received based on relevant tenant/organization/application combinations and optionally a specific activity/report criterion.

This improvement scales well in environments with numerous activity logs or reports, simplifying the management of notifications. Subscriptions can be created for individual users, groups, roles, or organizational units, ensuring greater flexibility and control.

4. Enhanced SQL Reporting Option

IT-Conductor has expanded its reporting capabilities by introducing text format as an additional output type alongside CSV and HTML.

SAP Basis admins and developers can now generate HANA mini-check reports in text format, allowing for further analysis. This is particularly useful for running analytics on HANA expensive statements over a given period. HANA mini-check reports typically provide system health insights, including memory usage, expensive statements, and performance bottlenecks. Exporting this data in text format enables further processing using scripting, analytics tools, or log monitoring solutions. This aligns well with standard SAP Basis administrative practices and enhances the ability to track and optimize database performance over time.
