CHALLENGE
T-Systems needed a monitoring and performance management solution for one of the largest SAP HANA landscapes hosted on Microsoft Azure, covering 40+ SAP applications and the full infrastructure stack (SAP ABAP, JAVA, OS, virtualization, Pacemaker HA clustering, etc.). The environment had previously been monitored with a combination of legacy tools (BMC suite, IBM Netcool, HP Service Manager, SAP CCMS, scripts) that were difficult to re-implement in Azure due to licensing cost concerns, lack of a unified tool, high configuration effort, and resource constraints.
SOLUTION
IT-Conductor provided a cloud-based APM-as-a-Service (APMaaS) platform with agentless monitoring that could cover applications, databases, OS, and infrastructure from a single pane. A rapid proof-of-concept (PoC) was set up in just 2 weeks, including thresholds, alerts, dashboards, and notifications. This PoC was then expanded across all migration phases. IT-Conductor also delivered 24x7 support during go-lives and helped with performance testing, high-availability failovers, custom dashboards, automated SLA and capacity reports, and ongoing performance analysis.
IMPACT
IT-Conductor enabled T-Systems to deliver reliable, end-to-end monitoring across Zuellig Pharma’s large SAP on Azure landscape while reducing tool sprawl, licensing costs, and operational complexity. With rapid deployment, pre-configured monitoring, and automated alerting and reporting, the solution improved visibility, accelerated issue resolution, and strengthened performance management across all migration phases—supporting a smooth transition to Azure and ongoing high-quality managed service delivery.
Thanks to the IT-Conductor Team for the great support and partnership on the successful Zuellig Pharma SAP on HANA journey.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Azure monitoring?
Azure monitoring is the process of tracking, analyzing, and managing the performance and availability of applications, services, and infrastructure running in Microsoft Azure. It helps ensure that your cloud environment operates efficiently, securely, and without downtime.
What is the default monitoring service in Azure?
The default monitoring service in Azure is Azure Monitor. It automatically collects and analyzes metrics, logs, and diagnostic data from your Azure resources, such as Virtual Machines, App Services, and Databases, to help you track performance, detect issues, and optimize operations.
What permissions or roles are needed to integrate IT-Condutor with Azure?
First, you need to register IT-Conductor as an application in your Azure subscription. Then, in IT-Conductor, add a new Azure connection using the service principal credentials. Make sure the service principal has the Monitoring Reader and Virtual Machine Contributor roles assigned at the subscription or resource group level. These roles allow IT-Conductor to securely access performance metrics, logs, and virtual machine details for monitoring and automation.
See Azure Monitoring for more details.
How does IT-Conductor enhance Azure Monitor?
IT-Conductor extends Azure Monitor by aggregating metrics, logs, and performance data into a unified, cross-platform view that correlates Azure resources with applications, processes, and on-prem or hybrid components. It adds automation, orchestration, and end-to-end visibility that Azure Monitor alone does not provide.
